Hospice Criteria for Cancer Patients

Consider these questions:

  • Is the patient past chemotherapy?
  • Is the patient past radiation therapy?
  • Is the patient currently receiving chemotherapy?
  • Is the patient currently receiving radiation therapy?
  • Is the statistical prognosis for a patient at this stage less than 50% survival at six months?

Specific Cancer Types:

Lung Cancer

  • Small Cell
  • Untreated or relapse post treatment
  • Non Small Cell
  • Unresectable or relapse post treatment

Breast Cancer

  • Metastatic disease
  • Undergoing no treatment

Colon Cancer

  • Metastatic disease
  • Advanced local disease

Prostate Cancer

  • Metastatic disease
  • Clear clinical decline over the past 6 months

We develop and individualized and specific Plan of Care – as the cancer advances patients experience functional and physiological decline.  We develop a POC that addresses pain, anxiety, hydration, psychological factors, hydration, nutrition, skin care, nausea, weakness and incontinence.
